World Gym Australia exceeds 200,000 members as expansion accelerates

World Gym Australia has reported that its national membership exceeded 200,000 during the 2025/26 financial year, as the fitness franchise expanded into Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra for the first time.

The company opened nine clubs during the year - its fastest annual expansion to date -taking the network to more than 60 locations across Australia.

World Gym Australia reported group turnover of more than $230 million, while sales through its club-based pro shops reached a record $32 million.

The expansion follows ASX-listed Viva Leisure’s acquisition of a 25% interest in World Gym Australia and coincides with the brand marking 50 years internationally and 20 years in Australia under founders Jon Davie and Mike Nysten.

With franchise inquiries reportedly increasing, World Gym Australia is targeting 100 Australian clubs by 2028, anticipating its rate of openings to exceed the previous network record of 10 clubs in one year.
